There exists in the world of supernatural horror a distinct current of existential dread, evidenced in the late 19th century writings of Robert W. Chambers (The King in Yellow) through the early 20th century work of H. P. Lovecraft, and continuing today with such authors as Thomas Ligotti and Shirley Jackson. We draw on this current to inspire the atmospheres, moods, and stories of our songs.
While not really conforming to any single musical tradition, we are inspired by the atmosphere of bands like Dead Can Dance and The Legendary Pink Dots, the lyrical intimacy of Michael Gira of Swans and Angels of Light, and the dark storytelling of Tom Waits and Nick Cave.
